Servant Leaders

This prophetic painting titled At His Feet depicts self-sacrificial love. Unquestionable self-sacrificial love is the epitome of servant-leadership.

In any event we need to humble ourselves at His feet and give Him our all. In truth we learn that as a spiritual principle the greatest among us are the servant leaders. Jesus said: ““Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35).

Anointing His Feet

The inspiration behind this painting is the woman who not only washed Jesus’s feet with her tears, but also dried His feet with her hair and anointed His feet with oil.

Luke 7:38 says: “…she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them”.

The highest Honour

The lady with the Alabaster Jar with perfume anointed Jesus’s feet before His burial and resurrection. Although men despised and rejected her, God commended her.

God honors her even to this very day. He used and still uses her act of love and obedience as an example and testimony to the nations.

At His Feet is a part of this tribute to honour her for her act of love and obedience despite the opposition she might have faced.

God’s Testimony

“Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly. “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” (Mark 14:4-9).

In Conclusion

When we humble ourselves At His Feet in prayer and pursue Him in humility, He lifts us up. Consequently we learn that those perceived as the least amongst us, are seen as the greatest in the Kingdom of God. As we posture ourselves to serve, we follow the King of kings who modeled servant leadership as our ultimate example to follow.
