RUNNING THE RACE

Running the Race is a multi-colour abstract paint explosion of a running horse against a soft yellow background.

 

Background

I birthed this painting during worship at Art on Stage and Ruthie, an 11-year-old, assisted me with the painting. It was big fun. Because of the paint splashes one can feel the action of the horse Running The Race. Also the playfulness of the paint application reads as a joyful energetic colourful explosion on the canvas.

 

The Message

I felt to capture the joy of standing on God’s promises amidst any challenges we might face. Just as an athlete runs to win, Running The Race is also about endurance and perseverance.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” (Heb 12:1-3, NIV)

May this message encourage you to run the race set before you with joy, because you know that running the race will lead to a reward that is waiting for you to celebrate.
