HERE I AM 

THE BACK STORY

The main thought behind the Here I AM print is that He is the Great I AM.

Exodus 3:13-15 says: “Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ “God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call men from generation to generation.

As we posture ourselves to serve and surrender, as we are willing to say: “here I am”, use me, we are congruents for heaven to flow through us to earth.

The greatest One of all humbled Himself and served. By posturing ourselves to serve we allow the great “I AM”, Christ, to become alive in us.

“…as He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17, NIV).

Here I AM therefore means that we are not only willing servants as Here I am, in small letters, but here GOD IS, for in our act of surrender we are dead to self and allow God to manifest His nature in and through our lives.

Here I AM is not about us as individuals, but about God in us and through us as He has pre-eminence in our lives.

What is Our Role?

Here I AM with the emphasis on “Here” refers to our posture, for God to meet us and use us right at the place where we are at. Take me as “I am” in the right here and now. That is the posture that invites the great I AM to make Himself known.

As I’m writing this Holy Spirit is reminding me of a song that I wrote. Part of it goes like this:

“You are the Great I AM
I AM in me You are
You are the Great I AM
In me
YOU ARE”

This pretty much sums it all up.

The Outpouring of His Holy Spirit

The “glory curtain” of silver and gold leaf reminds me of the Scripture of the latter rain.

“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord, is at hand” (James 5:7-8, NKJV).

“In the light of the king’s face is life, And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain” (Prov 16:15, NKJV).

“Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth” (Hosea 6:3, NKJV).

I also feel that this latter rain outpouring speaks of the outpouring of God’s Spirit. Even as you look at the painting there is the image of a white dove above the hands, and I felt that I needed to leave it there just the way I had originally and unintentionally put it on the canvas

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions” Joel 2:28, NKJV)

As you look at this painting, may you surrender yourself unto the Great I AM and receive the outpouring of His Spirit in and upon your life. Also, may it inspire you to follow Him and serve Him with all that you have.
