The moment that I saw Palesa, I knew that I had to capture her and her exuberant joy.

Her whole demeanour speaks of abundant joy. She literally shines God’s light into the atmosphere through her joyful demeanor.

In the light of ‘eternalizing’ her joy onto the canvas, I want to share the abundant joy that Palesa carries with the rest of the world.

 

Spiritual Matters

Undoubtedly, I believe that we are living in the end times and things will become significantly dark and challenging in this world. Our battle is not necessarily physical, but spiritual. With this in mind we must fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim 6:12). In order to be successful, we must apply spiritual principles to conquer spiritual matters.

With this principle in mind, I like to crown the painting with the following Scriptures:

“The joy of The Lord is your strength” (Neh 8:10, NIV) and “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Phil 4:4).

Ultimately when we are faced with challenges it is not our initial natural response to be joyful, but The Word commands us to rejoice in all circumstances, and tells us to count it all joy when you face various trials and tribulations.

James 1:2-4 says: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”.

 

My Personal Testimony

I recently battled a stage three cancer journey and had the choice how to respond. I decided to start a WhatsApp group titled “Corinne’s testimony in the making” After multiple surgeries I can now confidently say that I am completely healed. Nonetheless, I am not advocating that my choice determined the outcome, but I decided to have a positive outlook from the beginning. This has certainly helped me on the road to recovery.

I chose to have joy no matter what the outcome would be. It was going to be a win-win situation. Either God would heal me which is great, or I was going to be with Him which is great.

 

My Wish

It is my heart’s desire for us to receive the spiritual blessings attached to putting God’s Word into action. By practicing joy, even beyond our understanding, we fight the good fight of faith. Joy is a choice, and as we sow we shall reap. No matter how great the battle is that we are faced with, it is my heart for us to be able to rise above our circumstances and look at the situation with a “more than an overcomer” perspective.

May His abundant joy be our strength.
